Why Choose Lessons with Doug

Learning cello is more than playing an instrument — it builds focus, creativity, resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for music. Lessons are designed to be engaging, clear, and enjoyable, especially for beginners and young learners.

  • Beginners Welcome (Ages 7 & up): Lessons start with posture, bow basics, and age-appropriate fundamentals that make learning accessible and fun.

  • Individualized Instruction: Every student follows a personalized path — whether they’re preparing for school orchestra, recitals, or simply learning for pleasure.

  • Balanced Musical Learning: Doug incorporates technique, music theory, ear training, and musical expression at every level.

  • Performance Opportunities: In addition to our annual studio recital, students have the opportunity to rehearse with a professional pianist and perform for their peers in Studio Class five times a year, all included in monthly tuition.
