I use a flexible, goal centered pedagogical approach catered to the individual student. Lessons incorporate theory, ear training, and music history in encouraging a love and appreciation of music and the cello.
In order to achieve a solid foundation and understanding of cello technique, it is important that students understand the mechanics behind playing the cello. It is not enough that we learn "the right way" to move and position ourselves while we play; we must understand why, in terms of ergonomics, efficiency, and musicality.
Music lessons develop persistence, effective project management, concentration, calm, and focus.
I have been teaching in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area for eighteen years; currently I teach cello lessons from my studio in Baltimore, near Johns Hopkins University. All ages and ability levels are welcome. If you are interested in lessons, please feel free to contact me with any questions and schedule a free trial lesson.
